Devon County Council 2025 election results for South Molton
The results are in for the 2025 Devon County Council elections in our area, with the Lib Dems taking Chulmleigh & Landkey ahead of Reform UK, and Reform beating the Conservatives by just 35 votes in South Molton
With all 60 seats now declared, the Conservatives have lost control of the council as the Liberal Democrats surged to 27, gaining 18 councillors, with Reform UK coming in second on 18, the Conservative Party lost a massive 32 seats leaving them with just 7. The Green Party increased their numbers to 6, Independents picked up two, while Labour lost all seven of their councillors.
The result means that no one party will have overall control of Devon County Council.
This is set to be the last county council election. The government has proposed to sweep away all district and county councils and have only unitary authorities.
All local councils in Devon have been asked to work together to come up with one plan for the reorganisation of local government.
In our area this could mean North Devon joining forces with Torridge, Mid Devon, East Devon and Exeter.
